Tanning is the best way to retain glowing and bronzy skin. Who doesn’t love looking like a bronzed goddess? The most simple way to achieve this is exposing yourself to the sun for hours and hours on end in the hopes of achieving that glowing skin. Whether you apply sunscreen or not, prolonged sun exposure isn’t an ideal choice. It has been proven that long sun exposure is one of the primary reasons for skin cancers. So with that said, here are a few ways to tan without burning.

Apply Sunscreen
Usually, skin experts recommend using sunscreen with either SPF 50 or at least SPF 30. Applying sunscreen before 30 minutes of sunbathing or going outside blocks the harmful UV rays.

Don’t Stick To A Single Position.
Make sure you continuously change your position so that all parts of your body get an even tan. Over tanning may cause irritation, burning, peeling and an overall uncomfortable feeling on the parts of your body that got the most sun so make sure to switch up your positions to avoid this.

Take Beta Carotene Foods
Eating the right foods also helps you tan without actually burning your body under the hot sun rays. Take foods rich in Beta Carotene such as carrots, sweet potatoes, etc. Other foods that help to tan fast are dark chocolates, fish, tomatoes and sushi.

Avoid Staying Outside For Longer Than 3 Hours
If you stay outside for a long time, your skin starts creating melanin, a skin pigment that creates tanning. It is suggested to stay in the sunshine no longer than 3 hours, any more time can actually cause severe damage to your skin.

Use Tanning Oils
A few oils help you tan faster, such as coconut oil, avocado oil, and carrot oil. The specific substances in these oils make skin tanning more quickly without burning your skin. Many people prefer to apply sun oils and if you are one of them, look for an oil that contains sun protection compounds to help speed up your tanning without hurting your skin.

Tan At Specific Times
For faster tanning, it’s better to opt for tanning between 12 pm to 3 pm. However, as the sun’s rays are intense, it increases the chances of skin burns. If you’ve sensitive skin, it’s better to set your tanning time to either before noon or after 3 pm.

Note: Tan between 12 pm to 3 pm only if your skin isn’t sensitive. Also, avoid more extended period tanning as it increases the health complications such as skin cancer, dehydration, eye damage, rashes, etc.

Take Small Frequent Breaks
It’s important to take frequent breaks to avoid skin care complications and ensure quick tanning. Make sure you relax under the shade to give your skin a break while you are out tanning.

Exfoliate
Exfoliation secrets skin oils that help you get super tan. This is one of the most essential tips that you shouldn’t miss out on. Prepare your body before going outside by exfoliating the areas you wish to tan. Exfoliating, especially with a gel like Aloe Vera, will help you tan more quickly and protect your skin for long hours.

Choosing the Right Dress
Another important tip while tanning is to wear the right outfit like a strapless top for tanning.

Use Tan Creams
There are numerous creams available that help accelerate the tanning process while protecting you from harmful UV Rays. So, make sure to use them before going outside.

These are the few tips that you should follow to enjoy fast tanning without skin burns. Make sure to avoid prolonged exposure to the sun as much as possible and know when to go outside based on your skin. Follow these tips and you’ll be golden in no time! With that said, happy tanning!
