Great wall of China
This is an architectural medieval masterpiece that is often hailed as the greatest architectural marvel of that era. Construction of the wall was started in 221 BC by the Chinese emperor, Qin Shi Huang, it was meant to be a fortification against external invaders. The Chinese government gives the wall an official length of 21,196.18km (13,170.6956 miles).
The height varies from 15 feet to 39 feet and in some portions, the width reaches 32 feet. It meanders around northern China and contrary to popular belief, it’s not a single structure per se but consists of several small walls. 10 million tourists visit the wall yearly which makes it one of the most visited tourist locations worldwide.
Great Blue Hole of Belize
If you’re a scuba diving enthusiast or a fearless individual looking for some little adventure into the deep, the great hole of Belize is a destination to visit. It has a depth of 125 m (410ft) and a width of around 1000ft.
Many tourists are drawn to the crystal clear water that has accumulated in the sinkhole, containing several species of fish – some rare, and others common. Other special attractions include stalactites, sharks, and more. If scuba diving isn’t your thing, then you could choose to have a birds-eye view of the hole from the safety of a helicopter. The sight will forever be etched in your memory.
The Maldives
The Maldives is a conglomerate of around 1192 islands – only 200 are inhabited – in the Indian Ocean dotted by crystal clear waters. Coral reefs offer color and beauty to the shallow portions of the ocean. It’s home to several fishes and serves as a natural defense against the fierce ocean currents.
Getting a place to stay is as easy as ABC: there are hotel resorts at every turn with each providing leisure snorkeling excursions to coral reefs. There’s also an opportunity for non-divers to learn and get certified: there’s a dive school with trained divers who adopt a by-the-hand approach to teach you diving essentials. If you’re visiting this country, be sure to surf, snorkel into the ocean, or simply take in the sun on the powdery white sands that fill their many beaches.
New York City
If you’re looking for some urban adventure, New York is the city to visit. This metropolitan city, leads the pack as the most photographed city in the world (yea, it’s that beautiful) and tops the list as one of the most visited cities of the world. You can take an excursion through the famed central park, visit the several stylish boutiques that dot fifth and Madison avenues, attend a Broadway show, pay a visit to the towering empire state building, go for an art exhibition at the Met, or take a guided tour of this vast city. Whatever choice you make, you’re sure to have an experience of a lifetime.
Kruger National park, South Africa
Kruger National park is one of the largest game reserves in Africa and boasts of a wide array of wildlife. Wildlife includes the famed big five (lions, elephants, buffalos, rhinos, and leopards), native bird species, giraffes, zebras, etc. It’s located in the northeastern area of South Africa and extends to about 2 million hectares.
The park is populated by several luxury lodges that offer guided tours of the wide safari. You’re sure to get close-up views of several animals and return home with not just memories, but splendid pictures to match. The beginning or end of the dry season (around April and September) is the best time to visit the kruger. The temperature is favorable. In addition, the absence of rain, vegetation, and low water levels all combine to make spotting your favorite animal quite easy.
